Lissa teaches independently in collaboration with Rooted Music Collective, located in SE Portland.

I teach expert piano lessons for students of levels as well as vocal coaching, guitar, and music theory. I have a special interest in infusing analytic and experimental thinking through all aspects of playing from technique to improvisation.

My students enjoy connecting all aspects of their lives and our somatic world to music and sound disciplines. Be prepared for many a deep-dive and the opportunity to bring awareness to building a musical practice based on independence, confidence, and disciplined self-discovery.

I truly have the most fun in learning from and with my students as we discuss and play together. I believe that the mentor-student relationship and trust that comes with is critical to building a beautiful musical practice.

  • 45 minute and 1 hour weekly lessons offered for all instruments and disciplines listed above. Curious why 45 min is the minimum length for the youngest players? Ask me during our introductory call!

  • Bi-weekly and Monthly lessons are 90 minutes long. For many busy adults and musicians of any age who prefer project-based independent learning, weekly lessons may not be the best path forward! During our regular lessons, we will utilize a larger block of time to do progress check-in, skill building, and goal setting for your independent practice.
